Frequently Asked Questions

Q: What is the difference between a fitness studio and a gym ?
A: Gyms and health clubs have created a stack em & rack em and Do It Yourself approach to exercise. Never more so than with the opening of 24/7 Gyms. At AMX Health & Fitness our clients don’t subscribe to the DIY theory and we don’t either. We take you on an interactive journey at each session, not virtual reality. Our trainers actually walk you through your exercise routines on every visit, whether its one to one or in a group fitness setting.

Q: Why will using a fitness studio be better than going to the gym?
A:  Whenever you attend, we work with you on your fitness and don’t leave you to Do It Yourself. We keep group sessions small to around 8 to 10 per session, and you typically get 500% more time with a trainer at our sessions than at group classes at a gym. Our trainers will steadily build you and your performance up. Of course this is a 2 way street. If you want to adjust the intensity or difficulty, then just ask your trainer.

Q: How long do sessions last?
A: All sessions run for 60 minutes with the exception of yoga which runs for 90 minutes.

Q: I want to lose weight fast, can you help?
A: Rapid weight loss is not our recommended approach, however we can work with you to lose weight through group fitness or personal training or a combination of the two.

Q: I lack the confidence and motivation to exercise on my own
A: Don’t worry, you are not alone. This is one of our strengths. Our small group classes make it fun and challenging to exercise. The personal attention to detail from our trainers means you’ll be challenged to improve every visit. Nothing is taken for granted.

Q: Do you run fitness sessions outside?
A: On occasion we exercise outdoors. We have a garden area where we can exercise and also a park within walking distance. At AMX Health & Fitness you get the best of both types of group fitness, indoors and outdoors. Remember that with dedicated outdoor fitness, the equipment provided for a session is limited to the natural surroundings and what can be carried between the car or ute and the park. You are safe in the knowledge that we have all the equipment on site and we don’t alter your exercise program because the weather is poor.

Q: Are all classes suitable for people with injury?
A: Most of our classes are suitable for people recovering from injury. We advise you meet with us and we can take you through our pre activity questionnaire. You can also download it here.

Q: I’m a beginner, are classes suitable for me?
A: All our classes are suitable for all abilities. If you haven’t exercised for a while, we recommend you begin gently and then steadily build up from there.

Q: I haven’t exercised for years, will I be able to join group sessions?
A: Yes.  We advise you meet with us at a trial session and we can take you through our pre activity questionnaire. You can also download it here.

Q: Are classes suitable for the elderly?
A: Yes. We advise you meet with us and we can take you through our pre activity questionnaire. You can also download it here.

Q: Does it cost more to attend a fitness studio as opposed to a gym?
A: A direct comparison is not possible because we are not a gym and we don’t operate in the same way. As can be seen by our testimonials, we believe that we can yield better results and faster than at a gym or outdoor fitness.

Q: Will I be tied into a Contract?
A: Taking up a membership in not compulsory. You can attend on a casual basis, prepay in blocks or take a membership. The choice is yours. If you are commited to attending more than twice a week, then we recommend  a membership.

Q: If I take up a membership, can I place it on hold if I fall ill or go on holiday?
A: Yes.

Q: I’m just looking for a place to use a treadmill
A: You get much more than that at AMX. By attending our circuit training sessions you get 60 minutes of cardio and weight based exercise. This may include using the treadmill. When we get you to use a treadmill we don’t just press start and set a speed and a time. We’ll set you a program so that you can go at your pace and get the most out of your 60 minutes.

Q: Is there parking nearby?
A: To make your visit as easy and convenient as possible, we have free client car parking to the rear.

Q: What do I wear when I attend?
A: Comfortable loose clothing such as tshirts, short, jogging pants and sneakers.

Q: Do I need to bring a towel?
A: No, we can provide you with hand towels and water, all at no charge.

Q: Do you have change facilities?
A: We do have a shower and bathroom for you to change.

Q: What qualifications do you have?
A: Our Personal Trainers either hold a Cert IV in Personal Training or are exercise physiologists. All of our current trainers have been practicing for at least 5 years and most have been practicing for at least 10 years. We are also members of Fitness Australia.
